Powered by the country’s leading mobile services provider Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), NBA.com/Philippines logged over 2.3 million pageviews in April 2022 alone, while NBA.com reached over 77.9 million pageviews in the same month. Local NBA content featuring prominent Philippine basketball personalities like Coach Norman Black, Gabe Norwood, and LA Tenorio talking about the NBA drove more people to the site, making it the top sports website in the country.

In February 2021, the National Basketball Association (NBA) and Smart relaunched the league’s official website in the Philippines as part of the two industry juggernauts’ partnership to provide Filipinos with access to game highlights, stats, standings, scores, schedules, localized content, latest news, among others.

“Our strong partnership with the NBA through NBA.com/Philippines allows us to boost our suite of services for Smart customers, by bringing the world’s premier basketball league closer to Filipino fans,” said Jude H. Turcuato, FVP and Head of Sports at PLDT and Smart.
Fans can watch live NBA games and programing on NBA TV Philippines anytime, anywhere on their smartphone, they simply need to download the GigaPlay app on the App Store or Google Play Store, or visit smart.com.ph/gigaplay.

Smart subscribers can also enjoy free access to NBA.com/Philippines, the league’s official digital destination in the country.  NBA.com/Philippines also provides Smart subscribers with access to articles free of data charges. The online NBA destination also features original content from local basketball players, coaches and analysts offering fresh takes on the latest NBA news and trends.

Alternatively, Smart customers can subscribe to the NBA League Pass, the league’s premium game subscription service which provides the most comprehensive live and on-demand access to an entire season of NBA games in high-definition with live stats and multiple viewing options. Smart Postpaid subscribers can opt to subscribe and have it charged to their Smart mobile plan for their convenience, while prepaid users can subscribe via their prepaid load.

To support the superior mobile viewing experience of NBA fans in the Philippines and the constant growth of mobile data traffic, Smart increased to 76,600 its total base stations nationwide as of end-March 2022, providing 3G, 4G/LTE and 5G to customers across the country, including around 7,300 5G base stations, all supported by Smart’s parent company PLDT’s fiber infrastructure of 803,000 kilometers.
