The 7th edition of Asia IoT Business Platform: IoT Philippines this month will see key policy makers, government officials, telecommunication operators, solution providers and local enterprises gather to explore the latest Internet of Things (IoT) technologies for business productivity, share case studies of IoT implementation and establish partner relationships via business matchmaking.

Being held for the second time in Manila, it is endorsed by the Information and Communications Technology Office (ICTO) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in the Philippines. The conference and exhibition will be held on 23 & 24 May 2016 at the Manila Marriott Hotel.

Hon. Undersecretary Louis Casambre, the Executive Director of DOST-ICTO will be giving the government keynote address on IoT in building a Smart Digital Nation, followed by Carolynn Ann C. Reyes, Assistant Commissioner of the Bureau of Internal Revenue on IoT in Nation Building.

According to JD Montelibano, the Head of Business Applications from the IT Enabled Services Group of Globe Telecom, IoT will enable Philippine companies to be more competitive in a global level. Besides being able to monitor and manage different assets across the organization, companies will be able to capture rich data that allows them to understand customer trends, anticipate problems beforehand, and improve process and operations efficiency.

“IoT has huge opportunities and unlimited use case that are relevant to the Philippine market. What solution providers must do is to understand pain points and problems in a local micro level. They also need to have platforms that are inter-operable with other systems to drive seamless integration through readily available APIs,” he added.
During the 2-day conference, there will be a focus on IoT developments within the following industries:

1. Manufacturing & Industrial IoT (IIoT)
2. Transport and Logistics.
3. Smart Cities
4. Healthcare
5. Banking and Finance

Over 300 C-level participants will discover the immense potential of IoT and gain invaluable insights on how to leverage the growing network of technology embedded machines for businesses operations.
The conference is chaired by Microsoft, which sees IoT opportunities existing in public sectors such as next generation cities and public safety, retail to enhance buying experience of consumers, telcos and utilities to further enhance ability to service customers and prevent service outages, and manufacturing to enhance operations, increase throughput and prevent failures in the manufacturing line.

“More and more, we’re seeing IoT become part of the fabric of business, helping converge an organization’s assets, data and processes with people and business systems. Today, this intersection is allowing enterprises to uncover new opportunities, create new business models and transform their operations – to become truly digital businesses. We look forward to having great conversations with organizations of all sectors to discover how IoT can help them!” said Herns Hermida, Cloud and Enterprise Business Group Lead of Microsoft.
According to Frost & Sullivan, Philippine spending in IoT is forecasted to grow from US$ 55.1M in 2014 to US$ 766.8M in 2020. With a focus on educating end users on IoT adoption, Asia IoT Business Platform will be bringing in case studies across verticals from local and abroad for the benefit of attending seniors executives from the ICT and operational divisions.
