Yesterday I was in search for a gift-able set of earphones under P 600.00, my clear choice before is a Soundmagic es18 due to its outstanding sound / price ratio. Then I found out that the person that would be given the IEM's would love the gift better if the color of the item would be "blue", unfortunately es18 only have red, green and orange.

Fast forward 2015, I updated this old post!

Checkout the great sounding Awei ES900i
Then I begin to search for an alternative online, fortunately I found AWEI ES900i over tipidpc.com for a very cheap price of P 348.00. I was attracted by its design (skullcandy ink'd) body, paint, flat cables (I'm not a fan of flat cables but ordinary people seems to like it), it has a microphone which would be great for iphones, smartphones, ipad & tablets and most of all the color that we're looking for is there.

Teaser

Sweet looking boxes for something so cheap :) Blue, Purple, Black (Old Photo)
*please take note that I do not expect this IEM's to compete with several IEM's I've had, but this in ear monitors sounded really special for the price and as a result we bought 3 units. :)

The box looks cool and has a flip-able cover to view the item inside.

Here's what inside!
It has been upgraded into an L jack now!
It's a good looking metal iem! :)
Sound

Honestly I didn't expect a lot from this one and as long as they won't sound (basag and lata) it would be great for me considering the price, but this things sounds 3-6x their price range. :) It can easily compete with soundmagic es18, tdk ie500, brainwavz beta and soundmagic e10m. Right now I'm still burning these gems yet up to 50 hours. It has a dark & airy sound signature. At 1st it was muffled, mids doesn't sound the way I wanted, produces great soundstage, surprisingly decent sparkle & amazing sub-bass then after a few minutes, damn man this was really good and really comfortable to wear. I just lessen the bass through my equalizer by -2db (because I'm not a basshead) then that's it, it sounded the way I wanted.

Verdict

People who loves bass (bassheads) will love this! It's a perfect gift with great sound for its price range. A better alternative for cheap fake fashion earbuds and is even better than most pricey original fashion earbuds. (calling out beats & soul) LOL! To my ears initially this babies sounded better than cx300 by sennheiser (P 2,500.00) which cost way way more. It would be a good bling without sacrificing sound quality. So grab one now! :)
