The original release date was this coming September 30, 2016 and now moved to November 29. Mr. Tabata said that in order to further polish and conduct a quality testing of the game and match the expectations of fans worldwide they have decided to delay the release. The team expresses deep apologies to all expecting fans and related personnel for any inconveniences caused by their decision. See the below statement from Hajime Tabata, the director of Final Fantasy:

Our team has been working hard to fulfill the promise we made at the event back in March. Now the master version of the game has already been completed and we think most players will be satisfied with our current progression.
However, from the moment we joined this project, our vision was to create a level of freedom and realism previously unseen in the series. Regrettably, we need a little bit more time to deliver on this vision and are confident that this new release date will help us achieve this,” said Hajime Tabata the game director. “As the director and lead of this project, I wish to personally apologize for the additional wait. As a team, we want FINAL FANTASY XV to achieve a level of perfection that our fans deserve. We kindly ask for your understanding.”
