Happy Mobile has just released four new smartphones this year, one of the release is the very budget-friendly Happy Mobile Neo Lite.

Happy Mobile Neo Lite

The Happy Mobile Neo Lite sports a 4.5 inch display, 1.4GHz quad-core processor, 2,000mAh battery, Mali 400 GPU for graphics, 8MP rear camera, 1GB of RAM, 4GB internal storage and an out of the box Android 4.4.2 Kitkat. It also features the unique 3D Geometric Design Back Cover. Let's see the review below for the overall performance and is it worth the budget?

What's inside the box?

The box package of the Happy Mobile Neo Lite contains the following:
  • 1 x Happy Mobile Neo Lite unit
  • 1 x Earphone
  • 1 x Charger
  • 1 x Data Cable
  • 1 x Warranty card
  • 1 x User Manual

Build & Design
The design of the Happy Mobile Neo Lite is quite impressive due to the 3D Geometric design back cover which I think is replaceable with the different colors. The overall build is made of plastic but the look is impressive and solid to look at. The phone perfectly fits to the hand and no problems in reaching screen buttons with just using one hand. The phone has a glossy glass finish and is quite slippery to hold so be careful no to drop it. Overall it doesn't really feel as a cheap smartphone.

On the upper portion of the phone have the 3.5mm audio jack, ear speaker, front camera is located.

The bottom part have the essential buttons such as the menu, home and back buttons. The USB port is also located at the bottom, by the way USB OTG works as tested!

The back portion contains the flash and the camera and the colorful 3D Geometric back cover which feels like a Nokia Lumia.

On the other side contains the volume rocker. The display is good to look at not pixelated, it comes with a 4.5 inch IPS 854x480 pixels screen so the images and text are quite clear & vivid to look at.

The colorful matte 3D Geometric back cover, the speaker is located at the back near the happy logo.

OS, UI & Apps
The user interface of the Happy Mobile Neo Lite is a plain stock Android Kitkat which is really easy to use since it's the usual UI format of Android OS. There are no icon modifications or any other bloatwares installed. If you are concerned with changing the UI you can always get plenty of themes via Google Playstore.

The Operating System (OS) integrates well in the devices as I don't feel any lag in the animations or transitions. If I have one thing to comment about it is that I hope they made it Lollipop or have an update in the future.

The only added apps that I've seen are the File Manager, FM Radio, Back-up & Restore and What'sApp, the rest are Google apps and other system apps.

Camera
For the given price, the camera is quite okay but you cannot expect that much. When taking a picture, there should be enough light in the area to have a better shot, it can work indoors as long as there are enough light else the image will degrade or too dark. The taken images are a bit washed out but so far can take a decent picture.

Performance & Benchmark Tests

Antutu Score: 15,852
Geekbench 3 Score: 1,159 (Multi-core)
Quadrant Score: 5,086
Nenamark Score: 57.7fps

MultiTouch Test: 2 touch points

The Happy Mobile Neo Lite performs well with the quad-core processor and 1GB RAM. The device run quite smoothly and no lag problems so far when using regular apps. The built-in Mali 400 GPU does well too, I can run some 3D games like Dead Trigger & Temple Run 2 without lags or problem.

Battery Life

We think the battery capacity is a plus for this smartphone, it already has a 2,000mAh battery which is real good that can last for a whole day or two on regular use. The standby mode can last for few days too.
