Almost month ago it was first reported here in our website the existence of a new Firefly Mobile device, the Intense Metal. Few hours ago, the existence of this interesting handset was officially announced in their Facebook page.

For those who missed it, the Firefly Mobile Intense Metal as name suggest is a metal clad 5.5 inch smartphone with decent specifications at a very affordable price. Few days ago, I had a chance to have a quick look at it to report it to you now.

The Intense metal is one clear proof that you can get a nicely built handset at a low price. This device is a nicely built handset with CNC milled Magnesium alloy body that makes the phone feels like a durable premium smartphone. What I like here is it doesn't feel too heavy and surprisingly doesn't have any sharp edges that made it feel great to hold.

The screen also uses a OGS IPS panel with ACS Dragontrail glass protection to prevent the screen from breaking easily from drops and scratches. When it comes to the quality of the display it's quite decent with good viewing angles from what I've seen. Thanks to the added OGS and IPS features added to it's panel even if it isn't HD yet and doesn't have high pixel density which is understandable for the price. The good thing is it's display is quite bright and have nice color balance. This should be great enough for most when it comes to watching movies and general phone use.

What I loved about the Intense Metal is it is a well engineered and designed smartphone. While the combination of 1.3 GHz MT6582 quad core processor, 1 GB RAM and Mali 400 GPU might be a bit ordinary. The use of a fast charging 3,300 mAh battery paired with 5.5 Inch screen is perfect to ensure that your device will have enough juice to last for the day. I also liked the way that Firefly was able to squeeze here the use of a 13 MP Sony IMX219 sensor with BSI, autofocus and flash. The front camera of this phone also uses an 8 MP sensor with BSI to ensure that you can take good quality selfie photos.

As of the moment...
At just PHP 4,499 the Intense Metal is one of the best value phablet that you can get. It packs decent specs for the price with great camera sensor, large battery capacity and fantastic durable metal build quality that doesn't make it feel like a low priced device. It also comes with a lot of freebies like the Blue-light filtering Tempered Glass with special oleophobic coating to avoid scratches, silicon case and a basic phone.
